0DeLaveaga Disc Golf Club Meeting (Vol.1, Mtg.1)  9/20/2003

Last minutes:


Marty Hapner called to meeting a group of DeLaveaga disc golfers to address the
recent transition of land ownership from the City of Santa Cruz to the State of
California.  The fate of the DeLaveaga disc golf course is in question, meaning the
land usage by the Delaveaga Disc Golf Club, bicycle group interest, & the public
park usage in general after this passing of the land deed.  In this matter, the club
needs to start providing channels for its members to contribute time, money, energy,
& commitment to the endeavor Marty has called to meeting.


Agenda conducted today:
? Mission of the DelaVeaga Disc Golf Club
? Club Organization moving forward from this date
? Club Meetings (time, place, day of the month)
? Action Items for next meeting


Mission of the Club
? Preserve the tradition & play at DeLaveaga Disc Golf Course in the wake of
the transition of the land from the City of Santa Cruz to the State of California.
? Provide general maintenance & improvement to the DeLaveaga Park & disc
golf course in working with the City because they provide some services to
the park.
? Promote disc golf play & sportsmanship at the DeLaveaga Park.


Club Organization (for the interim to bootstrap the club)
? Need a Executive Director to act as a liason between the club members &
Board of Directors (for the DeLaveaga Disc Golf Club) & also represent the
members/club before the city of Santa Cruz.  The Executive Director work
with the Committee Directors.
? Need one or more committees made up of members to drive the general
issues described in the mission statements of the club.  Each Committee is
populated by volunteer member, is chaired by Committee Director, & reports
to the Executive Director & the club at large.
? The following committees are proposed &b their responsibility is described
herein:
o Membership ? recruitment of members, collect dues, communicate to
members (via newsletter, website, board posting) club meetings,
news, eitquette & disc golf sportsmanship.  (As the committee meets,
it will more clearly define its responsibilities).
o Tournaments/Events ? provide direction & information regarding golf
tournaments such as Masters Cup, Faultline, & Monthlys. (As the
committee meets, it will more clearly define its responsibilities).
o Grounds/Maintenance ? erosion abatement, basket moves, course
maintenance, Adoption-of-a-Hole program, course longevity &
sustainability, pickup trash & cans, (As the committee meets, it will
more clearly define its responsibilities).
o Web Site ? general communication, electronic forum for
club/committee discussions, public relations, user/email lists, server
availability to Internet users, collateral (maps, directions, rules),
contact info. (As the committee meets, it will more clearly define its
responsibilities).
o Task Force ? determine legal status of the course, communications &
interactions with city, state, & other civic & government bodies;
research & justify clubs land usage necessary persons may include
lawyer, any Board of Director, Executive Dir. of the club. (As the
committee meets, it will more clearly define its responsibilities).


New meeting time, place, & day of the month:
o 1st Saturday of the month at Upper DeLaveaga Park (this coming Oct. 4th at
9AM before golf play)
o 3rd Wednesday of the month (time & place to be determined) this coming
Oct. 15th


Action Items for Committees & club members at large:
1. Committee volunteer enrollment; define committee role &
responsibility; select Committee Director, decide times & places to
meet, & report to Executive Director & members at the next meeting.
2. All persons attending next meeting will nominate & select interim
Executive Director for the club.
